At Colchester Climbing Project, we love kids and are excited to welcome them to the world of climbing. We welcome children from 5 years of age with appropriate supervision. Climbing is a sport that comes with a risk of injury. Whilst steps have been made to make things as safe as possible, all children must be supervised properly to minimise the risk.
Whilst they can appear similar to soft play or play parks, bouldering centres are a lot more dangerous and require much closer attention and supervision. You must therefore be with your child at all times. One of the most risky elements for children is when moving around the centre. Supervisors must be aware of all risks and fall zones at all times.
All children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times, with the exception of those who have completed our junior competency test, which is available for children with suitable experience.
If you wish to supervise under-16s, you must have registered, watched the Safety video, and completed the independent climber assessment.
For individuals who do not wish to climb themselves, it is possible to learn the necessary supervision skills by attending a Family Induction. Please contact us for more details on Family Induction courses.
